This morning began differently.
Before the coffee. Before the news. Before the endless list of things waiting to be done.
A prayer came first.
As I prayed, I found myself thinking about people in my life.
A colleague carrying losses I can only imagine.
My son standing before an open door and considering a new chapter in his life.
His business partner facing unexpected change.
Friends, family, and countless others carrying burdens that remain unseen.
And something unexpected happened.
The prayer stopped being about me.
It became a prayer for others.
For those who are grieving.
For those who feel discouraged.
For those standing at a crossroads.
For those who have lost hope.
The older I get, the more I realize that every person carries a story.
The person who seems angry.
The person who appears distant.
The person who complains.
The person who smiles.
We rarely know what lies beneath the surface.
Perhaps that is why kindness matters so much.
Not because life is easy.
Not because everyone agrees with us.
But because every person we meet is fighting battles we cannot see.
This morning reminded me that hope, joy, and peace are gifts meant to be shared.
Each day we have an opportunity to bring a little light into someone else’s life.
A word of encouragement.
A moment of patience.
A simple act of kindness.
Sometimes that is enough.
Today my prayer is simple:
Lord, let Your light pour forth upon those who are weary, discouraged, and disenchanted.
And let me be one small reflection of that light wherever I go.
Amen.
Morning Prayer for Hope
Good morning, Lord.
Thank You for the gift of another day.
Before the noise begins, before the responsibilities unfold, before the worries of the world seek a place in my heart, I pause and place this day in Your hands.
May my thoughts, words, actions, joys, and struggles become an offering of love.
Pour Your light into the places where I cannot.
Bless those who will cross my path today.
The cheerful and the weary.
The confident and the uncertain.
The grateful and the discouraged.
Those carrying burdens they never speak about.
Those whose smiles have faded beneath grief, disappointment, loneliness, or fear.
May they encounter kindness.
May they encounter hope.
May they encounter You.
Lord, bless the children entrusted to my care.
Protect their innocence.
Nurture their curiosity.
Strengthen their courage.
May every adult who guides a child do so with patience, wisdom, and love, remembering that these little ones are not interruptions to our day but gifts entrusted to our hands.
Bless my family.
Watch over my husband, my children, and those I love.
Guide them as they make decisions, walk through open doors, and step into new opportunities.
Grant them wisdom to discern the path before them, courage to follow it, and peace when the future is not yet fully visible.
For those beginning a new chapter, fill them with confidence.
For those closing one, fill them with gratitude.
For those standing at the crossroads, fill them with trust.
Lord, I pray especially for those who have lost hope.
Those who wake each morning discouraged.
Those who feel unseen.
Those who have become cynical, angry, wounded, or weary.
Those who have forgotten that they are loved.
Let Your light pour gently into the hidden places of their hearts.
Renew what has grown tired.
Heal what has been broken.
Awaken what has fallen asleep.
May they discover that hope is not gone.
It is waiting.
And may I be, in some small way, an instrument of Your peace today.
Where there is worry, may I bring calm.
Where there is discouragement, may I bring encouragement.
Where there is division, may I bring understanding.
Where there is darkness, may I carry a little light.
Thank You for this day.
Thank You for Your faithfulness.
Thank You for walking beside me through every season.
May all that I do today bring glory to You.
Amen.
🙏❤️
