A Stronger Me In My Own Existence

I get so tired of people refuting the origins of Hail Mary in the Bible, especially in the Joyful Mysteries! This chart was shared by Scot Hann and Catholic Truth on Instagram, I in turn share it here:

  1. I still had one Proddy tell me I only believed this because I was brought up that way. I gave him the same references and he just didn’t want to get his head round it all…

    1. Mary, the mother of Jesus, holds a special place in Catholic devotion. Her significance extends beyond her earthly role as a young Jewish woman from Nazareth. Often telling others why Mary is hailed as the **Queen of Heaven** and what this title signifies means understanding not only the Old Testament (salvation history), but also the New Testament (Jesus), early church fathers, theological basis, The Papal Encyclical, but devotion and veneration.

I am too lazy to be a apologetic, and pray for the grace of God to reveal these truths to one another 🙂

      ## The Tradition of Queen of Heaven

The title “Queen of Heaven” has deep roots in Christian tradition. It is bestowed upon the Virgin Mary, venerated by Catholics, Anglicans, Lutherans, and Eastern Orthodox believers. Long before formal definitions were established by the Church, this title appeared in prayers, devotional literature, and artistic representations.

      ## Theological Basis

      1. **Assumption into Heaven**: According to ancient Catholic teaching, Mary was both bodily and spiritually assumed into heaven at the end of her earthly life. As a result, she is honored as Queen in heavenly glory.

      2. **Mother of the King**: Mary’s son, Jesus Christ, is not only the King of Israel but also the heavenly ruler of the universe. In the Davidic tradition of Israel, the mother of the king held a special position as queen mother. Thus, Mary’s queenship is intrinsically tied to her role as Jesus’ mother.

      ## The Papal Encyclical

In 1954, Pope Pius XII issued the papal encyclical *Ad Caeli Reginam*, formally affirming Mary’s title as Queen of Heaven. The encyclical emphasizes that Jesus’ kingship extends beyond earthly realms to encompass all creation.

      ## Devotion and Veneration

      1. **Holiest and Greatest Saint**: Mary has been venerated since early Christianity. She is often considered the holiest and greatest saint.

      2. **Distinctive Marian Dogmas**: The Catholic Church upholds two distinctive Marian dogmas: her Immaculate Conception (free from original sin) and her bodily Assumption into heaven.

      3. **Diverse Views**: While Catholics hold exalted views of Mary’s role, Protestant perspectives vary widely. Some Protestants emphasize biblical support for traditional Christian dogmas related to Mary, while others view her with lesser significance.

Mary’s queenship transcends earthly boundaries. As Queen of Heaven and Earth, she intercedes for all God’s children with abiding mercy and compassion. Her role invites us to contemplate divine love and grace—a love that crowns her as our eternal Queen.
