A Stronger Me In My Own Existence

The Mass reading for the Feast of the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica (November 9, 2025) stirs my soul, inviting me to see my body as a sacred vessel for God’s presence. In 1 Corinthians, we are named living stones, shaped by grace to form Christ’s Church, built on the eternal foundation of Jesus Christ. The Church is not mere walls but the sanctuary within our hearts, where the Holy Spirit dwells.

As St. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 3:9b-11, 16-17 (New Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition):

Brothers and sisters, you are God’s building. … Each builder must choose with care how to build on it. For no one can lay any foundation other than … Jesus Christ. … Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? … For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

Christ’s light glows within me, calling me to nurture this vessel. My spirituality flows from my soul’s core, my body woven into God’s Church, shining alongside others to reflect His presence. Through the Holy Spirit’s work, my sins are cleansed, as 1 John 2:1-2 (NRSVCE) affirms: “If anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” This purification, guided by 1 John 2:15-17’s warning against worldly lures, shapes me into a worthy stone for God’s dwelling. May we all embrace this lifelong journey, becoming radiant temples of His eternal light.
