Reflections on faith, hope, and the quiet journey with Christ

Here was a young woman,
chosen by God.

An angel came to her
with a message
that would change the course of history.

Would she accept?

Yes.

And through her yes,
a Child entered the world.

Jesus.

God with us.
Love made flesh.
The Word dwelling among us.

Mary’s yes did not end
at the Annunciation.

It became the beginning
of a journey—

from Bethlehem
to Nazareth,
from Cana
to the foot of the Cross.

And there, upon the Cross,
Christ offered His own yes.

Like the unblemished lamb,
He gave Himself freely,
bridging what sin had divided,
reconciling humanity to God.

Through His death and Resurrection,
we are offered more than forgiveness.

We are offered new life.

A rebirth in Christ.

The old self can fall away.
The Spirit can dwell within us,
guide us, transform us,
and draw us ever closer to God.

As St. Paul writes:

“It is no longer I who live,
but Christ who lives in me.”
— Galatians 2:20

And perhaps this is one of the quiet beauties
of the Assumption of Mary.

The young woman who once said yes
to receiving Christ within her
is received, at the completion of her earthly life,
into the fullness of life with God.

Her story points beyond herself.

It points toward the promise
Christ offers all of us:

that death does not have the final word,
that our earthly lives are not the end,
and that through Christ
we are being made new.

Mary said yes.

Christ said yes.

And because of that love,
we too are invited to say yes—

yes to grace,
yes to the guidance of the Holy Spirit,
yes to becoming new creations in Christ,
and yes to the life toward which God
has been calling humanity all along.

Mary’s yes opened the door to Christ entering the world.
Christ’s yes opened the way for humanity to return to God.

And through the Holy Spirit,
that yes continues within us.

We are reborn.

Christ lives within us.

And the journey home begins.
