Reflections on faith, hope, and the quiet journey with Christ

A prayer inspired by Jeremiah 29

Jeremiah 29:11 has been a familiar verse of hope for me for many years. Recently, I found myself wondering about the chapter surrounding those familiar words.

Jeremiah was writing to people living in exile, in a place they had not chosen. His message was surprisingly practical: build homes, plant gardens, nurture families, seek the welfare of the city, and pray for it. They could not control what history would bring, but they could live faithfully where they were.

That stayed with me this morning and became this prayer.

A Prayer for Where I Am

I am here.
This is my home.
These are the people I love.
These are my neighbours.
This is the place in which I have been given a life.

Lord, teach me to nurture my family, care for my home, seek the good of my community, and pray for the peace of this city.

Keep me rooted in You.You hold what comes next.Teach me to live faithfully here.

Amen.
