Daniel 1
Daniel’s Training in Babylon
I started to read the Book of Daniel. Lately my Bible reading seems to parallel the world around me acting as a kind of guidance from the Holy Spirit.
The school I teach at just finished taking down all the Halloween decorations that adorned the hallways and classrooms. It was a spooky environment created for our school children.
The goal of creating a festive Halloween environment for our children is a secular phenomenon. As a teacher, mom and wife, I have always adamantly opposed celebrating Halloween. I feel that it is a tradition that has underlying demonic presence. People dress up incognito and become that persona they dress up to represent- witches, devils, superhero, animals, etc.
It’s hard to ignore this during the Fall as it has become a part of our secular culture.

It’s also a time of year when the young and old can dress up in all kinds of costumes and act outlandish.
Traditionally a Christian day of celebration with pagan roots, it was celebrated on October 31 (All Hallow Day) which is also the eve of all Saints Day.

Today Halloween can mean different things to different people. As a Child of God who has been redeemed and saved from all my sins, it is hard for me to think about participating. Halloween represents a highjacking of an early Christian/Catholic tradition and made impure. It has become a part of our secular culture and oftentimes with underlying demonization of a Christian tradition.
For myself it is better to stay away from it and think about my own spiritual hygiene. It is not allowing Satan another entry point into my life.
It is a personal spiritual preference and depends on one’s discernment of one’s own ability to not get drawn onto becoming spiritually unhygienic. I know myself, when I was young, I was drawn into the world of tarot cards, fantasy stories and games of Dungeons and Dragons, and other role playing online games. Hence for my own protection and peace of mind, I steer clear of all that can draw Satan in.
Thank you for reading my ramblings🙏💕
I hope each of my readers can discern for themselves and examine more deeply how the secular world we live in can so easily draw us into spiritual pollution.
It is a daily challenge for me to tune out all the rubbish around me that can stain my soul.
God Bless 🙏💕
