Rejoice and Praise

Reflections on faith, hope, and the quiet journey with Christ

Prayer: Bread of Our Need — the Lord’s Prayer, Aramaic and English

A loaf of bread on a wooden table in a rustic stone room, with a clay jug and cup, olive branches, and sunrise over hills

The prayer Jesus taught us — in the language He spoke. Pray it line by line, slowly, and let each phrase settle.

In Aramaic

Abwoon d’bashmaya
Nethqadash shmakh
Teytey malkuthakh
Nehwey sebyanakh, aykanna d’bashmaya aph b’arha
Habw lan lachma d’sunqanan yaomana
Washbuq lan haubey wahteyn, aykanna daph hnan shbwoqan l’hayabiyn
Wela taalan l’nesyuna
Ela patzan min bisha

In English

Our Father in heaven
Hallowed be Your name
Your kingdom come
Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Give us today our daily bread
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
