I did it!

For the first time in my life I finished reading three very difficult books in the Bible: Exodus, Leviticus, and the Book of Job. I have been following the Bible In A Year with Father Mike Schmitz podcast available through many platforms since last month (I was able to catch up as I had already finished reading Genesis and parts of Job before I discovered this podcast). His enthusiasm and love for God comes through in his reading. His pace makes it easy to follow along. Listening to the joy in his voice as he reads through some very detailed parts of Exodus and Leviticus makes an otherwise laborious reading on my own, just as happy. What is more important is hearing God’s message within these books. They are just as relevant today as they were in the past. Through God’s grace of insight and understanding, I have a deeper knowledge of His will and love for us.

Yes, it is an achievement for me. In the past I either skimmed through or half hearted read only the story of Moses up to the crossing of the Red Sea, and parts of God’s Covenant, but never all of it. Rites and building details pertaining to the Ark of the Covenant I literally dropped. I have never read the book of Leviticus. I use to think of Leviticus as a book full of boring rites and rules. I convinced myself Leviticus offered nothing relevant to me in today’s world.

I can say with confidence I have completed these books. For the first time in my life, I can attest to the importance of these books, especially, in light of my own journey with Christ (prelude to the Eucharist). These books, have given me insight into God’s character. They also reveal time and time again, God’s abundant love for His people.

Reading Exodus and Leviticus has given me insight and knowledge into God’s amazing grace. The time has been well spent. Reading and following along each day for 15 to 25 minutes has drawn me closer to Him, and it has help me grow and mature in my faith.

Thanks for sharing in my journey in Christ,

God Bless💖
