I am taking this week off and spending it with my husband and fur babies at a National Park to enjoy the last few weeks of Fall camping.
Oka National Park has internet reception, so this morning I quickly glanced through LifeSite News, and all I can say is I shook my head and closed it.
I didn’t bother reading the news as I am a bit disgruntled to see our Catholic clergies and even our Pope getting involved in politics – the elections in the US stirring commentary and opinion world wide.
Aside: I would like to believe that as a child of God, I can discern with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
My reading has been the Gospel of Luke, and this morning’s reading was a nudge from the divine – a reminder of the coming chastisement (https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=luke%2021&version=NRSVCE)
Destruction of the Temple Foretold
5 When some were speaking about the temple, how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts dedicated to God, he said, 6 “As for these things that you see, the days will come when not one stone will be left upon another; all will be thrown down.”
Signs and Persecutions
7 They asked him, “Teacher, when will this be, and what will be the sign that this is about to take place?” 8 And he said, “Beware that you are not led astray; for many will come in my name and say, ‘I am he!’[a] and, ‘The time is near!’[b] Do not go after them.
9 “When you hear of wars and insurrections, do not be terrified; for these things must take place first, but the end will not follow immediately.” 10 Then he said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11 there will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and plagues; and there will be dreadful portents and great signs from heaven.
12 “But before all this occurs, they will arrest you and persecute you; they will hand you over to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors because of my name. 13 This will give you an opportunity to testify. 14 So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance; 15 for I will give you words[c] and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, by relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 You will be hated by all because of my name. 18 But not a hair of your head will perish. 19 By your endurance you will gain your souls.
Aside: All I can say is it is a time to get it right with God. To rid my spiritual closet of all the things of this world which distracts me from God.
I am imperfect – striving to be a better mom, wife and teacher. My struggles are with the things in the world which distracts me from God. I love to shop – yeah a shopaholic. I can also be proud and arrogant at times, argumentative, opinionated, and loving the unloveable is not easy.
I am thankful that God loves me, and my devotion to him is to strive to be a better human being with a Christ consciousness. That includes striving to be the person I was created to be – a better person in my own existence.
I pray incessantly for the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and for the grace of discernment, insight, depth, and the love of God.
Taking the time to sit with God during the day, and alway seeking to be close to him has helped me keep myself sane.
God Bless as we manoeuvre as the children of God in a world riddled with half truths, false prophets, war, conflict et al. Remember to always call upon the name of Jesus.
🙏💕
