A Stronger Me In My Own Existence

Sharing some personal insight as I continue my journey in the Gospel Luke.

Luke 22

24 A dispute also arose among them as to which one of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 But he said to them, ‘The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 But not so with you; rather the greatest among you must become like the youngest, and the leader like one who serves. 27 For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

28 ‘You are those who have stood by me in my trials; 29 and I confer on you, just as my Father has conferred on me, a kingdom, 30 so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and you will sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

There is this drive within us to be noticed, to get that recognition, a pat on the back for a job well done. This is human nature. To be humble and to have the attitude to serve comes from the Holy Spirit.

I know there was a time when I was proud and arrogant, with maturity and life experience along with guidance of the Holy Spirit, I’ve come to understand that joy comes from working quietly and humbly to see the completion of the whole – which in my situation often means silently using my artistic or research skills to organize an event or project. Often working in a team, I now let those who need the big limelight have it. Having a Christ consciousness is more important to me than receiving recognition by my peers.

WHY?

It’s too easy to falter upon my faith and fall prey to the dark side of egoism.

Satan is always around finding ways to infiltrate into our lives. He loves to watch us stumble. This brings him great satisfaction. To remain strong in our faith requires the helping hand of God.

With every misstep when I fall, I learn to become stronger in my faith – because the Holy Spirit helps me up and guides me with discernment to become a better me. It is with this new insight that I can share with those around me and share the good news of Jesus!

Praise be to God for his son our saviour – Jesus.

Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial

31 ‘Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has demanded[e]to sift all of you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your own faith may not fail; and you, when once you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.’ 33 And he said to him, ‘Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death!’ 34 Jesus[f] said, ‘I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow this day, until you have denied three times that you know me.’

Let us pray for one another that our faith in God is unwavering. When we do fall, let us be mindful and support one another as the Holy Spirit helps each of us. This way we as a Jesus loving community we can stand strong against the snares of Satan and the principalities within our world🙏💕
