A Stronger Me In My Own Existence

Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh – I AM WHO I AM (Exodus 3:14)

At sixteen, I wove through classics’ ancient streams,

Chasing wisdom’s fleeting gleam,

Till Sartre’s Age of Reason stirred my soul.

Existential shadows beckoned, and I dove,

Seeking truth to make me whole.

“Teach me your way, Lord,” my heart did cry (Psalm 86:11),

Yet reason’s path I chose to ply.

Through university’s halls, my quest unfurled,

Diplomas in sociology, anthropology, fine arts swirled.

In colors bold, I painted my soul’s strife,

The sacred and profane in ceaseless fight.

“The heart is deceitful,” whispers the Word (Jeremiah 17:9),

Yet I sought the divine where darkness stirred.

Like David, I mused, “What is man, O Lord?” (Psalm 8:4).

I traced my roots, my ethnic thread,

To know myself, the world’s vast spread.

A Prodigal, I wandered far from grace (Luke 15:11-32),

Seeking in the finite my rightful place.

But one night, truth like lightning broke within:

My fallen mind, bound by concupiscence’s din,

Could not grasp the One whose ways transcend (Isaiah 55:8).

Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh, eternal flame,

Alpha and Omega, ever the same (Revelation 22:13).

“You will find me when your heart is true” (Jeremiah 29:13),

Your Spirit called, and my soul You drew.

Without Your breath, I’m clay, an empty shell (2 Corinthians 4:7),

A deer that pants for streams where life does dwell (Psalm 42:1).

I chased the world’s vain wisdom, wind’s fleeting chase (Ecclesiastes 2:11),

But You, O Lord, are Truth, my resting place (John 14:6).

Your Word, a lamp, lights my shadowed way (Psalm 119:105),

Your voice, a whisper, bids my heart to stay.

“Come to me, weary one, find rest,” You call (Matthew 11:28).

Great I AM, You fill this vessel, once enthralled.
